Vancouver has wonderful weather, great food, affordable accomidations and they will marry anyone who qualifies for marriage. How can you tell if you qualify? Basically you need to meet the following requirements:
- Currently unmarried (for 31+ days)
- Over the age of 19
That’s it! This means that you do not need to have any of the following:
- No blood test
- No citizenship requirement
- No gender requirements

hi there… i was just wondering.. in canada do you have to put the announcement in the paper.. im from the uk n it is supposidly a law that you have to put the announcement in the paper at least three weeks before the marriage in case anyone has objections n they will have time to file a report as to why the two people shouldnt marry.. is it the same there?
We had no such requirement. We showed up Friday evening, got a license on Monday morning and were married by the end of the day. We did need to find a marriage commissioner, but that was done before leaving for Canada.
i arrive in vancouver on march 6th i need to get a license and married before the 12th of march. is this possible? if so who should i call to set this up?
Hi Jamie,
The key is to find a marriage commissioner. There are plenty of hotels (that isn’t really a problem) and the paperwork can be done the day before or the same day. When you find a marriage comissioner you can ask them
a) Are there public holidays that will conflict with your plans?
b) Where you can buy the license (is there a friendly place near by?)
c) Where the event can take place (beach, hotel, etc?)
