One of my co-workers brought back the Doctor Who DVD “Pyramids of Mars” for me from the states and I really enjoyed watching it. To prepair myself before watching the DVD I did an internet search in the hopes of finding some production notes or trivia information from the filming of the episode(s) and I was suprised to find something other than Doctor Who in my search.
The website I landed on was by an author who actually believed that pyramids exist on Mars. They took pictures of natural and man made rock formations and buildings from Egypt and Mars and comparedf the two showing how the architecture on Mars is very similiar to the ancient architecture here on earth. Now I thought this was a prank until I saw that the person was including Bible verses to back up their statements, so I knew that he was a kook.
I would like to quote the page so you have some idea of what I am talking about:
The martian mound, the altar of Mars soil, is built on a planet that is both a “placeof descent” of pre- rebellion Cherubim [the builders of Cydonia who were at the time giving glory to God] and across from the planets which were”vanquished” after their rebellion [the exploded planet Rahab among them]. The builders constructed the martian altar as a witness precisely because they beheld a son who would distribute fortune and the forgetfulness of sin — the messiah.
and
The Martian sphinx face is a symbolic representation of Jesus , The Word made flesh, the Word of God Who spoke the universe into creation.
What type of crazy person believes this crap? This has to be the bullshit link of the year.
I’m surprised at how much better Google has gotten for searching for Doctor Who. I remember trying to look up episodes, fansites, etc., a few years ago and getting no results because the engine automatically dropped the “common” word Who from the search. Now, even though they say that Who is not included in the search, the first few results are Doctor Who related. Huzzah.
